Senior Laboratory Assistant - 1 FTE, Day
Description
The Senior Laboratory Assistant is responsible for clinical laboratory duties to include, but not limited to phlebotomy, performing venipuncture and capillary procedures on pediatric and adult inpatient and outpatients based on orders in the laboratory information system (LIS) or outpatient requisitions, including legal collections. They handle data entry by ordering testing in LIS based on physician orders, canceling and redrawing orders per policy, and documenting communication with the care team in LIS as required by policy. The role involves handling and processing specimens for testing at PRMCE and reference laboratories, including blood, urine, cultures, and other body fluids, as well as packaging and shipping laboratory specimens. Senior Laboratory Assistants perform testing as required and maintain competency as necessary. They are responsible for maintaining inventory of supplies needed to perform the job and completing documentation as needed for maintenance, quality control, unusual occurrences, and shift communication. Additionally, they courier specimens between campuses as required and communicate effectively and professionally with all caregivers and patients. All job responsibilities are conducted in accordance with regulatory accreditation agency requirements.

Required Qualifications:
- H.S. Diploma or GED.
- Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification upon hire or,
- Washington Medical Assistant Certification upon hire.
- If the candidate completed the Providence Swedish NPS Phlebotomy Training Program, they have 3 months post hire to obtain their MA-P.

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
