Located in Largo in the heart of Prince Georges County, our new state-of-the-art regional medical center (University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center) will provide improved access to primary and ambulatory care services and serve as a tertiary care center for critically ill patients. General Summary:

Respiratory Therapist are health care professionals who administer respiratory care by prescription of the physician. Their responsibilities include the diagnostic evaluation (not limited to: Obtaining and analyzing physiological specimens, interpreting physiologic data, performing tests and studies of the cardiopulmonary system and performing neuropsychological studies), management, education and rehabilitation and care of the patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. The practice includes the application of technology and the use of treatment protocols across all care sites including but is not limited to application and monitoring of: Medical gases (excluding anesthetic gases) and environmental control systems, Mechanical ventilatory support, Artificial airway care, Bronchopulmonary hygiene, Pharmacological agents related to respiratory care procedures, Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, Hemodynamic cardiovascular support.







Work Experience
  • Associate's Degree /Legacy Approved Certificate Program.Working toward an advanced respiratory related credential.
  • One year of experience as an RRT
  • Current Maryland license in good standing as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and Registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) within six months of employment.
  • Required: Certification in Pre-Transport/Post-resuscitation Stabilization Care of Sick Infants Guidelines for Neonatal Healthcare Providers (STABLE) is required of staff who care for neonates.
